Children's innate curiosity drives them to ask questions. Some of these may challenge us as they openly explore the differences they observe in their peers and adults eg different skin colours, abilities, cultures, traditions, families, languages, genders, beliefs.
Through exploring and recognising differences and similarities in nature's diversity, adults can help children realise that this diversity contributes to the richness of societies and the environment. Children then understand that diversity is natural, that there is an interdependence between us and that we too need to learn to live together in a respectful and responsive manner.
